Marcos Valle @ Depot
by Philippe on Oct.30, 2008, under Events
I got some free tickets to see Marcos Valle. Yet another frustrating evening of taking photos ! Imagine the artist sitting a meter above you, behind a piano (with another keyboard on that piano). Now tell me, how do you get decent photo’s of his face ?
The music was good, the afterparty with DJ Lieven Verstraete was also good, so in the end I enjoyed my evening at the depot.

Concert photography course @ Depot
by Philippe on Oct.25, 2008, under Events
Everybody can make photos but how do you take good concertphotos ? How do you work in that environment without a flash, lots of people and fast moving subjects ? I was always curious to try it out but you’re almost everytime barred from entering a concert with a dslr.
So I followed a concertphotography workshop at the depot in Leuven. Teachers were Pieter Jelle De Brue and Pieter Baert, founders of Drieduizend.
After an evening of explaining everything you have to know about concertphotography (iso/how to focus/how to get in/ how not to piss of the artists/how to move around during the concert/…) we could start to experiment on Kid Fear.

If you want to try out this workshop, I would recommend it. It’s not expensive, you’ll meet people with the same hobby and you get 2 concerttickets of your choice (at the depot) so basically the workshop is almost free.
Another advantage is that afterwards, when you go to see another concert at the depot, you can always bring your camera and take photos without somebody stopping you at the entrance !
